Mind the Gap

"Mind the gap" is a warning phrase issued to rail passengers to take caution while crossing the horizontal, and in some cases vertical, spatial gap between the train door and the station platform.

"Mind The Gap", the iconic message heard by millions on the London Tube was first recorded over 40 years ago. The voice belonged to actor, Oswald Laurence. After passing in 2007, his widow, Margaret, would frequently visit the station still playing his voice.

The phrase was introduced in 1969 on the London Underground in the United Kingdom. It is today popularly associated with the UK among tourists because of the particularly British word choice. Read more about it from the original source.
